Negative – documentary film about asylum seekers in Slovenia
Negative is a documentary film presenting stories of 11 asylum seekers living in Slovenia. They are from Afghanistan, Iran, Mongolia, Algeria, Syria, Georgia, Russia, Nigeria and Eritrea. Since Slovenia – following restrictive politics of European union – rejects most of asylum applications the majority of interviewees in the film already received negative decisions or they are expecting one soon. The film captures a passing moment in which people that are looking for a better life, but are facing a cold bureaucratic response which is not interested in real life, reflect on their fate and their uncertain future. The film points to the problematic nature of the restrictive European asylum legislation, which is currently winning over the fragility of human life.
