Alaa Alali was born in Damascus, Syrian Arabic Republic. He has been living in Ljubljana since 2015. In the past he was regularly translating between other asylum seekers and PIC, employers, NGOs working in Asylum center Vič, and also in hospitals when they needed somebody to help with defining the health problems. At Zavod O (through the projects Sharing is caring and Mozaik med kulturami) he was regularly attending primary schools and different youth centers to talk about migration policies and his personal experience with the intention of informing young people and reducing the prejudice against migrants in general. At the Peace insitute Alaas’ work includes addressing the questions of migrations, asylum processes, the integrational processes and everyday migrants’ problems, especially their lack of options in labour market.

Project’s goal is too contribute to a more open and just society in which refugees would feel welcome and accepted as equal.
