Strengthening civil society resilience: partners’ meeting and joint campaign planning in Ljubljana

We hosted the 3rd partners’ meeting of the PROSECO project and “resilience workshop”, which created space for exchanging ideas and co-creating a joint international campaign.

Workshop on civil society resilience – sharing good practices and designing a joint campaign

In addition to project partners, representatives of civil society from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, and Slovenia joined the one-day workshop, which was led by Jaša Jenull (Voice of the People initiative). Participants presented selected examples of campaigns and actions through which they responded to direct attacks on civil society and defended democratic values.

In a collective discussion, we identified key effective approaches as well as common challenges threatening civil society resilience in the region. The workshop concluded with the drafting of a joint international campaign, which we will be focusing on in September 2025.

PROSECO partners’ meeting – reflection, coordination, and future planning

Over the following two days, project partners met at the Peace Institute library to assess the project’s progress and prepare plans for the upcoming period. Key topics of the meeting included a more precise definition of the methodology and data collection process for monitoring civic space, planning activities at the national level, and setting timelines for the preparation of reports and the steps of the international campaign.

Special emphasis was placed on further developing ideas from the “resilience workshop”. Although campaign visions varied slightly – from advocacy approaches to potential citizens’ parliaments – there was broad consensus among partners on the need for a shared message that can be adapted to national contexts.

As the project continues, we will prepare national reports on the state and resilience of civic space, organize regional stakeholder events, and develop a campaign that will emphasize the crucial role of civil society in defending democratic values.
