MI_Pisma o vojnah in miru naslovnica EKThe e-book Letters on War and Peace contains 24 letters from people whose lives have been marked by war and armed conflict. Aber, Javan, Jurij, Arlene, Abu Amra, Armand, Divine, Anastasia, Ayen, Mora, Jackie, Payman, Pacifique, Eva, Wafaa, Emina, Nino, Laura, Irene, Boro, Ebadi, Samar, Bave, and Milica share their stories with us—about loss, hope, and courage, but also about what it is like to live in the shadow of war and think about peace.

The letters came from Palestine, Ukraine, Rwanda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Syria, Sudan, Afghanistan, Congo, Yemen, and other parts of the world. The voices of the writers invite us to reflect: how does war shape a person? What does it mean to live in peace? And what can we learn from their experiences?

While the media is often dominated by the voices of political leaders who justify or even encourage war, Letters on War and Peace gives space to those who believe in the power of nonviolence, compassion, and equality.
Because those who have experienced war know best why it is important to live in peace.

The e-book was created as part of the Thinking Peace cycle, in which the Peace Institute presents a series of public letters and stories from around the world – testimonies about life in war and the priceless value of peace. We have titled the series Living Peace, because we want to remind people that peace is not something to be taken for granted, but something we must create and protect every day.
