Euro-Mediterranean DIalogue Night at Metelkova

The Peace institute, in cooperation with Cultural Association Anarktika, organized »KULTUAR« as part of Euro – Mediterranean Dialogue Night, on 22 May 2008, starting at 17.00 in/in front of Klub Gromka, Autonomous Cultural Centre Metelkova City, Ljubljana. The event was divided in two parts; in the afternoon round table »the Mediterrain: Dialogue or conflict? « was held. Speakers presented their papers reagrding artistic and cultural diversity and heritage, migration in past and present, temporary economic-political initiatives regarding integration of Mediterranean area. After presentations one hour long debate followed. In the evening second part started: after the ALF film, in yard Kar češ brass band pefrormed, playing sounds of New Orleans, Balkan music and tunes from Slovenian Alps, accompained by kichen corner with mixure of Arab and Mediterranean food. After the program moved to the club, where band Illusion Caravan played combination of jazz, samba, ethno and funk. The evening finished with Haris Pilton DJ set of balkan and gipsy dub. The main idea of evening program was to present musicians, who are inspired by the diverse heritage of the and Central- European region and the Balkans.
