Achievements of the International criminal tribunal for Yugoslavia – The Hague Tribunal

Peace Institute Ljubljana, in cooperation with Open Society Fund Bosnia and Herzegovina, Open Society Institute Macedonia and Fund for an Open Society Serbia, organizes an international conference on international justice issues concerning the Western Balkan, specifically the achievements of International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY or the Hague Tribunal) comparing to its mandate, specified in the ICTY Statute. The conference will be held at the Garni Hotel Ljubljana from 23 to 24 September 2005.

The conference will address questions such as: Did the tribunal put an end to widespread violations of international humanitarian law? Did it take effective measures to bring to justice the persons responsible for them? Did it contribute to the restoration and maintenance of peace? The conference will host prominent domestic and international experts as speakers, including the representatives of the ICTY, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, Impunity Watch, Law School of the University of Ljubljana and frontline human rights institutions from the Balkans.
