Gender and the Far Right at the conference Europe’s Past, Present and Future

Mojca Pajnik attended the international conference »Europe’s Past, Present and Future: Utopias and Dystopias« that took place in Reykjavik, June 27-29, 2023 and was organized by the University of Iceland. In the presentation co-authored with Roman Kuhar entitled »Anti-gender Backlash in Central-Eastern Europe: Instrumentalizing the Crisis« she analysed the anti-gender mobilizing in the context of Central-Eastern Europe, emphasizing the Slovenian case. She talked about how anti-gender actors instrumentalize the crises to re-nationalize citizenship and to reify heteronormative visions of social development. The paper was part of the panel on Gender and the Far Right chaired by Susi Meret, scientific coordinator of Horizon 2020 Fierce project that includes the Peace Institute and the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana as partners.
