Sound Walk as a Model for the Destigmatization of Migrants and the Strengthening of Social Dialogue
The project develops a participatory sound walk as an innovative arts-based research approach to fostering understanding of migration experiences, reducing the stigmatization of migrants, and strengthening social dialogue. It is based on collaboration between researchers, artists, and experts from different fields, as well as the active involvement of migrants in the co-creation process.
In collaboration with migrants, the project will develop a prototype sound walk that uses personal stories to offer visitors deeper insights into experiences of migration, belonging, and the challenges of social inclusion. Grounded in ethical research practices, the project explores the potential of art as a tool for fostering empathy, reducing stigma, and promoting a more inclusive society.
The project brings together the research work of the Peace Institute, the artistic practice of the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television of the University of Ljubljana, and insights into the psychological dimensions of migration experiences contributed by the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana.
