Voices to Action: Participatory Research and Advocacy for Roma Rights in Slovenia

The Voices to Action: Participatory Research and Advocacy for Roma Rights in Slovenia project encourages Roma community members to actively participate in research on issues affecting their everyday lives and to contribute to the development of recommendations for improving public policies and practices.

The project is based on a participatory research approach that includes interviews with Roma community members, consultations with relevant stakeholders, and a capacity-building workshop. Particular attention is given to experiences related to the exercise of human rights, access to public services, participation in decision-making, and the identification of structural barriers faced by Roma communities.

Based on the findings, the project develops recommendations for improving public policies and practices and contributes to strengthening cooperation between Roma communities, civil society organisations, and public institutions. Through participatory research and advocacy, the project contributes to the more effective protection of Roma rights in Slovenia.

The project’s findings will also help inform the selection of topics and the development of the conceptual framework for the Facilitated Citizens’ Dialogue “How Do We Live Together?” between members of the majority population and the Roma community in Southeast Slovenia, co-organised by the Association for Developing Voluntary Work Novo mesto and the Peace Institute.
