Sociological and computational analysis of hate speech

Sociological and computational analysis of hate speech

On 20 October 2023, the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Primorska hosted a round table on sociological and computational approaches to the analysis of hate speech in the framework of the meeting of the Slovenian Sociological Society. The discussion was moderated by Ana Frank and included Veronika Bajt, Matthew Purver, Boshko Koloski and Jaya Caporusso. We presented selected preliminary results of the research project “Hate Speech in Contemporary Conceptualisations of Nationalism, Racism, Gender and Migration”. The roundtable addressed the challenges of interdisciplinary research on hate speech and the possibilities of collaboration at the intersection of disciplines, addressing hate speech intersectionally, and thus addressing not only the state of play, but also where to look for solutions to the challenges that have arisen, and how social scientific thought can contribute to these challenges.
