Conclusions from the international colloquium of the CISUR project – Enhancing Judicial Cooperation on the Implementation of the Succession Regulation in Croatia and Slovenia

Within CISUR project, the International colloquium on the implementation of Regulation (EU) no. 650/2012 on succession in Croatia and Slovenia. The International colloquium was organized on the ZOOM platform and was attended by representatives of the judiciary, notaries, lawyers, ministries responsible for justice and representatives of the academic community from Slovenia and Croatia. The colloquium was also attended by representatives of the Notaries of Europe (CNUE) and the European Judicial Network in civil and commercial matters (EJN).

The presentation of the project results was followed by an introductory lecture on the European Certificate of Succession and the most important open issues revealed by the research within the CISUR project.

At the center of the colloquium were two panel discussions on the topic:

  1. Establishment of a special EU register and Succession Regulation
  2. Amendments to national implementing legislation and uniform application of the Inheritance Regulation – Slovenian and Croatian perspective.

The main purpose of the colloquium was to bring together representatives of all actors involved in the application of the Succession Regulation in both EU Member States, discuss the key challenges identified by the CISUR project recommendations regarding the application of the Regulation and form common conclusions, providing solutions to identified challenges in practice and contribute to the uniform application of the Succession Regulation.
