“Paradoxically, the student movement in Serbia established its emancipatory potential precisely through that reappropriation of tradition and the past, which for decades fed only the ultra-national chauvinist project. With their performing the Serbian tradition within the protests, the students showed us that tradition does not belong to the corrupted mafia ruling elite establishment but to all of us. In that way they managed to mobilize other segments of the Serbian population, including rural areas, against the corrupted government, to free them from fear and lethargy and to encourage them towards civil disobedience.” – Lana Zdravković, Slatko.
Vlasta Jalušič and Lana Zdravković attended the Identity of Europe seminar, which takes place every September at the Inter University Centre Dubrovnik. The theme of this year’s seminar was Ideologies, Divisions, Conflicts. Vlasta Jalušič presented the paper “The Right to Have Rights, Political Responsibility, and Genocide”, while Lana Zdravković delivered a performative lecture called “Slatko”. Gorazd Kovačič from the Faculty of Arts Ljubljana also attended the seminar with the paper “Eichmann and Heidegger”.
