New Policy Brief: Rethinking Labour Migration in Slovenia

Slovenia’s economy is increasingly reliant on temporary labour migrants, but current policies leave many of these workers vulnerable to exploitation and social exclusion. The newly published policy brief “From Temporary to Essential: Rethinking Labour Migration in Slovenia” sheds light on how food industry and retail jobs are now largely filled by migrant workers facing long hours, unsafe conditions, and limited rights. The report warns that without fairer integration and stronger protections, Slovenia risks deepening social divides. The policy brief offers actionable recommendations to guide evidence-based policymaking.
