Katerina Kočkovska Šetinc

Katerina Kočkovska Šetinc, Master of Laws (LL.M) is a research assistant at the Peace Institute.

She concluded legal studies at the Faculty of Law in Skopje with a Master’s thesis on “Parenting after Divorce” and was awarded the “Bronze Justinian” at the completion of her studies. She has been living in Slovenia for ten years and since 2018 has been actively involved in projects in the field of asylum, migration and protection of victims of violence. At  subsequent mostly related periods, she has worked with the Legal Centre for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment – PIC, the Slovenian Red Cross and the  Institute EMMA, first  as a legal advisor on the AMIF project offering information and legal counselling for foreigners in the field of international protection, later as a coordinator of the UNHCR project on psychosocial support and SGBV prevention and response activities intended for asylum seekers and persons with recognized international protection and most recently as a professional worker/ psycho-social counsellor with a mastership exam in the field of social protection within a public verified social protection programme for the support of victims of violence. Since 2020, she has also been active as a legal guardian of unaccompanied minors.

At the Peace Institute she is involved in projects on migration, asylum, non-discrimination, integration, fundamental and human rights.
